Rainbows before sunrise

Have you ever seen a rainbow before the sun has risen?

I did this morning. It wasn’t a rainbow in the traditional sense of the word. It was the sunrise.

Driving in to work this morning, the sunrise started on the horizon red and orange, bleeding into the faintest yellow before turning from green to blue to the darkest violet that spread across the rest of the sky to where the stars were still shining.

It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Rainbows are symbols of God’s promises, and I knew you always usually had to see them after a storm. I just had never seen one before the sun was up before. Guess that means God’s promises endure even in the dark, huh?
